In his first year he was unsure what he wanted to do. What he wanted to do often ended up involving Netflix and reasonably priced red-wine, or Rose, if it was a special occasion. It was not till his second year (2014) where he discovered his love for online journalism, specifically data and investigation journalism.

Known to the journalism world as a journalist with a deep and passionate love for data journalism and to public bodies (Such as Birmingham City Council) as the annoying journalist who keeps sending FOI requests on a daily basis, he’s built up a reputation for creating original, though provoking and socially aware articles.

He’s also won a number of awards which his mother makes him place on the mantle piece at home.

  • Northamptonshire Secondary school student of the year 2012/2013.
  • Extra Mile Awards 2013/2014 – BCU Finalist (Undergraduate of the year award).
  • Extra Mile Awards 2014/2015 – BCU Runner-up (Team of the year).
  • Midlands Student Media Awards finalist 2015 (Entertainment website of the year) .

I’ve also worked with sites that have been nominated for awards:

  • Guardian Media Awards 2015 – (Website of the year) – Birmingham Eastside (Data Editor)
  • Midlands Student Media Awards 2015 – (Entertainment site of the year) – Nerd Pad (Founder)
